A Very Important Cause

Posted on

I am so thrilled to announce that Sticky Bellies has partnered with an amazing charity called Pigs and Balloons.  We will be donating a portion of our proceeds to their cause AND will be sponsoring numerous upcoming fundraisers and events.  We'll be blogging more about this amazing charity and the smart moms behind the cause soon, but time is of the essence, so I wanted to get information about their very important cause out right away. Pigs and Balloons' mission is to provide birthday parties for grieving children.

When I heard about Pigs and Balloons through one of our retail partners, I immediately felt an emotional connection. I mean, here we are, providing a product to help new parents celebrate their child's birthday every MONTH, and there are some children out there who have never had a birthday party in their life.  That, combined with just the thought of my own girls being without myself or my husband, inspired me to pick up the phone and call Amanda, the incredibly determined mom behind this charity. I didn't know what role Sticky Bellies could play in supporting their mission, but I knew I had to do something.  Amanda and I have since spent a lot of time brainstorming ways we can work together to provide amazing birthday parties for these very deserving children and I am so inspired by her work.  I hope you'll join me in this dedication to their mission.  They are currently seeking donations via a crowdfunding campaign here.  Please consider donating just a few dollars to help them provide celebrations for the children below.

About Pigs and Balloons

Pigs and Balloons is a nonprofit organization founded by Amanda Oliverio, a Milford MI resident and mother of four.  Our mission is to provide birthday parties for grieving children. Our target audience is children who have lost a parent, have an ill parent or possibly undergoing cancer treatment, a child who has an ill or hospitalized sibling and the parents just don't have the time or resources to dedicate to party planning.  1 in every 20 children will lose a parent by the age of 18.  That is 100k children in Michigan alone.

Every child deserves a party on their one special day of the year and our goal is to make that happen at no cost to the families. We are looking for volunteers, new ideas, and most importantly children and families in need!! Please message us if you are interested in giving back and making a difference.

If you are wondering how we came up with our name it came from Amanda's daughter Chloe when she was 3 years old.  When Amanda said "I love you more than all of the stars in the sky" Chloe's response was "Well I love you more than pigs and balloons" To her that was A LOT of love and it has stuck in their family and used daily!!!
